Dune RTS & Black Metal

I was a kid in the ’90s, completely obsessed with the old Dune 2 RTS game [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_II]. I loved everything about it, the vehicles, the mood, gathering resources and taking over Arrakis. It stuck with me for years, I took a stab at it a while back during a class at cgma and recently felt the need to go back and finish up some of the designs I had started.

This is something game-like, stylized, and based on a personal nostalgia and longing for RTS games.

As much a fun of Dune I was and also was a metal head and still am ! So I am hoping for metal music plays a big role in this project too , the music is intense, emotional, raw, almost alien. It has the same kind of feeling as Dune to me: lonely, huge, brutal, spiritual, and epic. I wanted the machines to feel like they came from that same place . heavy, mysterious, and almost sacred in a strange way.

This project is really just a mix of things I love: old-school RTS games, Dune, and metal. A remix, and honestly just something I had a lot of fun building.

The Spice Harvester: A Medieval-Inspired Giant of Plasteel

Here is the re-imagined Dune iconic spice harvester—re-envisioned as a massive, medieval-influenced fortress on wheels, a hulking plasteel structure reminiscent of a giant medieval wall, complete with slit-like openings that echo the arrow loops of ancient castles. These openings give it a defensive, fortress-like feel, as if it’s both a machine of industry and a mobile stronghold crawling across the desert.

The harvester is modular. It can link together with others to form vast, continuous harvesting lines that look like a giant armored wall creeping through the sands of Arrakis. Hoping to gives it a black-metal, industrial fortress vibe, both gritty and grand
